Setting goals to help your director financially
The main goal of a PMT is to pray for and encourage the ministry director. However, usually after a PMT visits and builds a relationship with a ministry, there is a desire to assist with finances. PMTs report that stories are easier to tell to fellow church members and others in their relational world after a relationship is built and ministry needs are seen and understood.

Setting a financial goal helps the Luke Society staff plan how to budget for the larger Luke Society family around the world.
Most PMTs set their goal around 50 percent of the ministry's annual budget. Most PMT have more than one couple contributing towards this goal and it is completely at the PMT's discretion. There is no pressure or obligation. Some PMTs give less than half of the budget, while some contribute the whole budget and additionally like to help with capital projects.
Support is completely dependent on the PMTs desire, financial ability and even the stage of life for a PMT. Again, the main reason we desire to partner with PMT members is for the encouragement of and prayer for the ministry director as they minister in challenging circumstances.

After the PMT has contributed toward the ministry budget, some like to contribute toward a particular capital project. These projects can be a huge blessing to the ministry and its staff. PMTs work together with the director and the central office staff to assess which projects will help move the ministry forward, and which might cause harm.

Some PMTs enjoy contributing beyond this level, and we also encourage giving to the Luke Society general fund. This assists with staff administration and also helps other ministries around the world.
