Celebrating 60 years of Kingdom work
For the past 60 years, the Luke Society has been blessed with opportunities to introduce Jesus to a world in need of a Savior.
It all began on April 3, 1964, when the Luke Society was organized by a group of Christian physicians and dentists who met in the basement of the Third Christian Reformed Church in Denver, Colorado. The Luke Society succeeded in the initial goal of saving the Rehoboth Mission Hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, and six years built a new Rehoboth Christian Hospital, dedicated in 1970.
A year later, the domestic focus was expanded by supporting Dr. Peter Boelens in Cary, Mississippi. When Boelens went on to become the first executive director of the Luke Society in 1978, the focus expanded to an international level.
Boelens was ahead of his time by recognizing the value and efficiency of empowering indigenous Christian health professionals to meet the medical and evangelism needs in their own country. The first international partnership was formed in 1980 in the Philippines, and since then, growth has been following a steady upward trajectory.
To date, 80 ministries in over 40 countries and five continents have partnered with the Luke Society. Hundreds of thousands of patients have been exposed to the Gospel and thousands of these patients have committed their lives to Jesus. Not only individuals, but entire communities have been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Join us in praising God for His work being done through Luke Society ministry partnerships. Your prayers are being answered. God’s kingdom is advancing. Keep praying for God to guide and direct the Luke Society to those He has already called and equipped to bring eternal healing to the nations in Jesus’ name.
