Support sought for new clinic

Dr. Patricia Dimene’s current clinic in M’bongo, Cameroon, has fallen into disrepair. She has already begun construction on a new facility to replace her present building, which has been invested with termites in the wooden plank walls.

At the tender age of 7, Dr. Patricia Dimene felt God’s call to bring medical care to Mbongo, Cameroon, an isolated community in the middle of a palm oil plantation. While staying with her aunt, a pregnant neighbor was having difficulty with labor and needed to be transferred during the night to a hospital, which was hours away. In the end, a healthy child was delivered but Patricia never lost the feeling that God was calling her to return and bring medical care and the Good News of Jesus to this community.

She has boldly followed God’s call. After receiving her medical education in Senegal, she returned to Cameroon. With help from the Luke Society, she began serving the residents of Mbongo in May 2020, naming her ministry “My Grace is Sufficient.”

With limited rental property available, Patricia had to resort to fixing up an old building that was falling apart. For more than three years, she has nursed this building along, using it as her home and clinic. Her only bathroom is a crude outhouse that she constructed. She sleeps on her exam table draped with a mosquito net to prevent malaria. Poisonous snakes from the plantation have often made their way into the clinic, which is now crumbling from severe termite damage to the wooden plank walls. Her landlord refuses to make repairs.

Several potential patients, including pregnant women, are reluctant to receive medical service in a building that is in such poor condition. With the rainy season approaching, Patricia fears that the roof of the building might blow off or collapse.

In faith, she is using her meager savings to begin excavation work on her property across the road from the clinic. With assistance from the Luke Society, she hopes to have a concrete floor, four walls and a roof built before the rainy season begins.

We are asking you to help this humble and committed sister in Christ to construct a suitable clinic that will serve as her ministry base for years to come. Kindly join us in the goal of raising $30,000 to make this ministry an even bigger blessing to the patients she serves with the love of Jesus.
