CT scan needs replacement
By God’s grace, Dr. Pal Oroszi has succeeded in accomplishing things in Ukraine that others would simply sum up with the statement: “It is not possible.”
Dr. Oroszi launched his ministry in 1997, shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Establishing a Christian medical clinic had never been accomplished previously, but Dr. Oroszi humbly gives all the credit to God’s intervention.
Against seemingly impossible odds, he skillfully navigated the web of bureaucratic red tape and gradually added a lab to his clinic, then an X-Ray and ultrasound, and eventually mammography services. The pinnacle achievement came with the addition of a used spiral CT machine in 2006, the first of its kind in the region.
Patients from the government hospital are routinely sent to the Christian Medical Center of Transcarpathia for CT scans. During the past 18 years, this CT machine has been heavily used. It has been repaired and resurrected multiple times. But in August 2024, the CT scanner breathed its last. CT scans are vitally important for the many cancer and trauma patients who receive care at the medical center. It also serves as an important source of revenue. Since 2014, this ministry has been entirely self-sufficient.
Replacing the CT machine with a used model that meets government specifications is challenging and expensive. But Dr. Oroszi has been faithfully setting aside funds in reserves to use for such emergencies. He also has the generous support of a Christian hospital in Hungary and several Christian friends in Germany. In summary, he is still in need of $50,000.
We recognize this is a larger appeal than we typically ask from faithful supporters like you. But in the end, we agree with a statement we have often heard from Dr. Oroszi over the years: “It is not possible, but with God’s help, we will do it!”
