Serving with excellence

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” ― 1 Peter 2:9 ESV

AITE, MALI—“Our God is a God of excellence, not of mediocrity.” This is one of the confessional statements Indielou Dougnon, Luke Society ministry director in Aite, Mali, often uses to describe the God he serves.

Indielou clearly recognizes that in the strong Muslim environment in which he works, he is a reflection of his Creator. He goes on to challenge his coworkers and Christian friends, “Since we serve a God of excellence, we need to serve others with excellence.”

Indielou has always worked with a whole-hearted commitment in his ministry activities.

He began his ministry in 1999, traveling by motorcycle with an insulated cooler of much- needed immunizations to rural communities that would otherwise be inaccessible. He has since established a full-service medical campus, complete with a church he built, sacrificing his personal salary to do so.

Dozens of people are led to a relationship with Jesus every year through his efforts. Although he continues to do medical and evangelism outreaches, he also invites new believers to come to Christian conferences he hosts in the church building on campus, helping them to grow in their faith.

Pray that not only Indielou, but that all of our LS directors ― and we as well ― can perform our daily activities with excellence, thereby testifying to the excellence of our Creator to a watching world.
