Earthly gifts promote heavenly impact

“Thank you for your gift.” Those words seem to flow out of our mouths so quickly and we don’t realize how big of an impact the gift could make. It doesn’t seem like our small gift could possibly make an impact in a village on the other side of the ocean.

But we know from Scripture that even a small gift from a widow or a young boy can have great impact.

During recent staff devotions, Dr. Greg Kuiper prayed for a patient in a clinic in Asia. He did not know the name of the patient and that patient will never know of the prayer. Yet through gifts given to the Lord, this patient will be introduced to Jesus.

The same week we had volunteers in the office to stuff envelopes with our donor letter. It occurred to me that a changed life begins with prayer over gifts yet to come; then a volunteer giving their time; followed by a donor with an open heart to make a gift; and a director bringing the message of Jesus to that life.

I love how God brings these gifts together into one life. Each gift of prayer, time and money all come together to change a life.

So thank you for giving to the Lord. There are many lives being changed by what we might think is a small gift. But we know that the Lord uses the gifts from the hearts of His people to bring more lives into His family. We are so blessed to be part of this family.
