Pray without ceasing

METAPAN, EL SALVADOR—Prayer warriors are inspiring people! Lilian Navidad accepted Jesus as her Savior at the tender age of 9 years and has been on the front lines of spiritual battles ever since.

When I first met Lilian — mother of the Luke Society’s director in Metapan, El Salvador, Dr. Beatriz Navidad — she told of how she had prayed for 21 years for her nominal Roman Catholic husband, Francisco, to become a committed follower of Jesus. During those 21 years, pastors and friends told her it was a wasted effort and to stop praying for him.

But God answered her persistent prayers. It was on a Mother’s Day Sunday that Francisco agreed to attend worship with her and during the service fully surrendered his life to Jesus.

Their lives were never the same. They began working together with their children in evangelism and medical brigades to bring physical and spiritual healing to the people of El Salvador.

Two years ago, Francisco went to his heavenly home.

In spite of this, Lilian follows the Apostle Paul’s advice to the Thessalonians, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thes. 5:16-18).

Age and advancing health problems keep Lilian at home now, but she hasn’t stopped praying or sharing the Good News, recognizing that God still has work for her to do.
