Misión San Lucas Ecuador

The foundation on which Misión San Lucas is built is as simple and straight forward as hope.

Dr. Yeny Agila uses the word esperanza — which means hope in Spanish — for each of the elements of her ministry activities. She intentionally expresses that hope by regularly reading Scripture to her patients and people in the community.

Yeny formed her ministry in 2002 as an outreach to women, but it didn’t take long before the reach grew to so many other areas. Today, they teach the Word of God to women’s groups, share experience in organic agriculture, operate a small savings bank, and work in health education and entrepreneurship training.

Another significant part of the ministry involves teaching and mentoring children in three marginalized urban neighborhoods.

In 2019, the ministry christened a new full-service clinic called Clinica Esperanza. The presence of the clinic has had a huge impact on the availability of health care for the community’s most-impoverished residents.

“It has been a challenging, but very enriching experience, knowing that God had prepared Christians from another country and another language, so that in our country we could touch lives in the name of Jesus,” said Dr. Yeny.
