Mourning director’s passing
The Luke Society is saddened to pass along news of the passing of longtime ministry director Dr. Felix Aldave of Trujillo Peru.
Felix went to be with his Savior on Thursday, Jan. 6.
He dedicated 50 years of his life to ministry in Peru, including the final 22 with Asociación San Lucas, a Luke Society-supported ministry, with his wife, Bertha. The couple retired at the end of 2019.
Their ministry left a huge impact in the Cerro Bolongo region, and brought holistic transformation to Barrio 6B though physical health, improved housing and a more stable economic climate. Their spiritual work to transform lives for Christ spoke for itself.
Felix was on dialysis for the last seven-plus years of his life. In 2015, he spent four months in the intensive care unit of a Lima, Peru, hospital following complications from kidney transplant surgery. Kidney rejection was compounded by a dangerous combination of pneumonia and sepsis.
He eventually recovered but battled kidney issues the remainder of his life.
Felix was known for his unabashed methods of spreading the Gospel to taxi cab drivers, teenage delinquents, strangers in the neighborhoods, and even nurses during his dialysis. He also regularly brought together groups at 4 a.m. to begin their day in prayer.
“He has always had his first commitment to the Lord,” Bertha said in a 2015 interview. “He never missed an opportunity to lead people to Christ.”
Felix is survived by Bertha, their three grown children and their spouses.
