LSN earns EPA awards

SIOUX FALLS—For the fourth year in a row, the Luke Society News received the top award in the newsletter category from the Evangelical Press Association.

The award was presented on the final day of the EPA’s annual Christian Media Convention held in Colorado Springs, April 10-12, at the Cheyanne Mountain Resort.

Awards of Excellence are given out in 11 different print categories. Judges are asked to evaluate the quality of the publication as a whole — including writing, photography, layout and all other aspects of publishing. The Luke Society News competes in the newsletter category.

The judges comments read, “Nice variety of stories and creative layouts makes this newsletter a delight to read. Great job! Congratulations to all.”

In addition to the Award of Excellence, the Luke Society News placed in two other categories within the Higher Goals competition for individual pieces. Higher Goals awards do not separate into categories. Every publication competes against one another regardless of size or format.

The Luke Society received a second-place award in what was a new category for the EPA this year: Infographic. The infographic explained how donor funds were used in 2020.

The other recognition was a fourth-place award for a photo in the Cause of the Year category. This year’s theme was mental health.

The Evangelical Press Association has a membership of nearly 300, comprised mostly of publications in addition to other individual freelance writers and publishers.

The Luke Society News is a free publication that is produced three times per year. If you’re not already receiving it and would like to have it sent to your house, please e-mail office@lukesociety.org.
