ODISHA, INDIA—Another storm feels overwhelming. It was this past May when the last tropical cyclone rolled through eastern India.

Now, more cyclonic storms are devastating the coastal villages where Dr. Pushpa Rout and her husband, Pastor Prem, have been ministering. For many years Prem and Pushpa have built relationships with the poorest of the poor in Odisha, India, bringing many of them to faith in Jesus.

As I write this, heavy rains and high winds coming off the Indian Ocean are causing damage to the villagers’ mud huts and thatched roofs. Many homes have collapsed as the villages stand in water. Poisonous snakes, drawn out by the flooding, are an added danger.

Even more storms are forming over at the Bay of Bengal. Please join Prem and Pushpa in prayer that these storms do not cause more devastation to the villagers’ mud houses.

Pray that the local dams hold up against the dangerous water levels. Pray for the Lord’s mercy upon these materially poor people and that even this devastating event may be an avenue for Prem and Pushpa to bring the Good News of Jesus to the Hindu villagers.
