The Luke Society has a small office staff which provides oversight and support for ministry operations. The office staff helps the Luke Society's outreach to go out effectively and efficiently while keeping true to the ministry's core philosophy. The central office is located at 3409 S. Wrede Vogel, M.D.
Dr. Wrede Vogel has served as the Executive Director of the Luke Society since January 1999 when he replaced Dr. Peter Boelens. Dr. Vogel’s first experience in medical ministry was at a Luke Society-supported practice in Dermott, Arkansas. Later he practiced medicine in Luverne, Minn. He also served on one of the Luke Society’s Partner Ministry Teams to Kasei, Ghana. Dr. Vogel’s desire to serve the Lord in medical missions started when he was a teenager and heard a chapel presentation about the work of the Luke Society. His duties as executive director include general oversite of all facets of the Luke Society and its ministries. He and his wife, Barb, live in Luverne. They have three children and 11 grandchildren. Dan Breen joined the Luke Society as Communications Director in January 2015. Dan’s background is in journalism where he spent nine years as a reporter for a regional newspaper. His duties at the Luke Society include outward communications such as producing the Luke Society News magazine and managing the Luke Society’s website and social media presence. He also oversees the production of photos, videos, advertisements and other written communications. Greg Kuiper, M.D.
Director of Ministry Development
Dr. Greg Kuiper joined the Luke Society staff as Director of Ministry Development in 2008, but was involved in the ministry long before that. He served as a physician with Dr. Wrede Vogel at the Luke Society clinic in Dermott, Ark. He also has previously served on the Luke Society board of directors and on a Partnership Ministry Team to the Philippines. His position involves supporting and encouraging existing ministries while evaluating the possibility of new ministry partners who might fit with the Luke Society philosophy and mission. Prior to joining the Luke Society full time, Dr. Kuiper was a family practice physician in Luverne, Minn., where he still lives with his wife, Marg. They are the parents of three grown children. Rod Ledeboer has been the Business Administrator at the Luke Society since 1999. Prior to joining the Luke Society he served as a Christian school educator and business owner. Rod handles many of the financial and budgetary aspects at the Luke Society, including the transfer of funds to ministries. He also oversees the technology needs in the office and connects college students seeking international medical ministry internships with Luke Society ministries. Candace Van Egdom
Candace Van Egdom has served as a part-time administrative assistant at the Luke Society since December 2002. Her main areas of focus involve staff payroll and accounting. She helps to provide financial accountability for the Luke Society. Candace also works as a retail accountant for a company in Sioux Falls, S.D., which specializes in promotional items, sports apparel and technology. International Ministry Coordinator
Nathan Stob became the Luke Society’s International Ministry Coordinator in September 2015. He started his career in education, teaching fourth-grade students in California. For the nine years prior to coming to the Luke Society, he was the director of ATLAS Orange City Area, a nonprofit Christian mentoring agency for individuals battling personal and relational difficulties. Some of his roles at the Luke Society include communicating directly with Partnership Ministry Teams and international ministry directors, and processing data and information from ministry directors. Deb Den Herder
Administrative Assistant and Prayer Coordinator
Deb Den Herder has been an Administrative Assistant at the Luke Society since September 2013. She came to the organization after serving 25 years as office manager for the University of Minnesota Extension Service – Rock County. Deb tends to a variety of roles from secretarial duties to financial recording. She also coordinates volunteers to help with Luke Society mailings and also took on duties with the organization’s prayer ministry. Deb and her husband, Jim, live in Luverne, Minnesota.
