BIRTAMODE, NEPAL―Luke Society Nepal ministry director Dr. Kapil Mishra and his wife Rebecca recently reported to our office on the flooding in southern Asia. Heavy rains in Nepal, India and Bangladesh have resulted in the loss of more than 1,200 lives. Millions of others have been displaced.

This devastation brings fresh burdens on many people who were already struggling with the lack of food and poor living conditions. More recently, poisonous snakes have emerged in the flooded areas, causing 15 people to die from snake bites.

Pray for people who are hurting from the loss of loved ones; pray for people who now find themselves sheltered in relief camps; for people who have been cut off from food and clean water; and for communities which have lost crops and farmland.

Pray for Dr. Kapil and Rebecca as they assist in comfort and clean-up. Pray that through this trial Satan will not steal their joy in the Lord but rather that they may be a witness of what happens when you have glorious Gospel truths with which to hang onto. Pray that they can be faithful on the path of obedience to God and that they do not lose heart.

Through these trials, pray that revival comes. Pray that the Holy Spirit blows over southern Asia and draws people closer to Christ.

Pray that stories like this spark in us a new passion to advance the mission of Christ, and that we act upon the reality of the millions of people who will experience eternal suffering unless they hear the Gospel message, repent and believe.
