July GAP newsletter

By Nathan Stob

"We proclaim [Christ], admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me. — Colossians 1:28.

Can you hear the Apostle Paul’s tireless labor come through these words as he writes to the church in Colosse?

He loves the people to whom he preaches, teaches and admonishes.  He has worked hard for his goal of presenting "everyone perfect in Christ."  The only way Paul can continue in this struggle is to use energy that is not his own, but comes from God.

This deep caring heart for people and supernatural energy to carry out large tasks reminds me of the Luke Society ministry directors.  They care so much for lost people that they will:

  • Travel to villages in 122-degree heat like Rev. Prem and Dr. Pushpa Rout in India.
  • Give up a more comfortable life to live in a remote village like Dr. Ousmane Soh in Senegal;
  • Spend extra hours with patients in Bible study like Teodocia Paredes Cabrera in Bolivia;
  • Move back to war-torn eastern Ukraine like Dr. Alexander Schevchenko.

Each ministry director has his or her own story.  Please keep them in prayer as they continue to labor, struggle and give of themselves. Pray they may be given supernatural energy for their tasks and for receptive hearts in those whom they minister to.
