Conference in the Philippines

By Dan Breen

A special event is happening in the Luke Society family this week.

About 40 ministry directors, regional coordinators, staff and board members are gathering in the Philippines for the Luke Society’s Eurasia Regional Conference, July 11-18. The conference is especially geared toward the gathering of Luke Society directors from the regions of Eastern Europe and Asia.

The theme for the conference is “Stand firm. Let nothing move you,” which was taken from 1 Cor. 15:58. That verse reads: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

The purpose of the conference is to encourage the ministries, gain education and hear updates on ministry activities throughout the Luke Society family.

Eastern Europe Regional Coordinator Pal Oroszi and Asia Regional Coordinator Dr. Julius Surjadi took the lead on much of the planning for the event along with Dr. Susie and Rev. Ben Cayaon who will serve as host for the conference.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Arul Anketell from Sri Lanka.

Most of the guest arrived today (Monday, July 10) in Manilla. They will fly to Puerto Princesa on July 11 where most of the conference will take place.

On Sunday, July 16, participants will have the privilege of visiting the Cayaons’ church and ministry in Quezon. Most will return home on July 18 with the board and regional coordinators staying an extra day for meetings.

The last time this group of Eurasia directors came together for a conference was in China in 2013.

Please remember to pray for this important gathering throughout the week.
