Ministry profile

The Luke Society ministry philosophy always struck a chord with Dr. Javier Barrios.  With much of his knowledge about ministry assistance and aid skewed by foreign medical brigades, he gravitated toward an organization that would allow him to develop his own ministry.

That’s exactly what he has done, developing a ministry in Masatepe, Nicaragua, in 2015.

Barrios is combining his expertise of a medical clinic with outreach partnerships from his local church. He is focusing most of his efforts on community health while a new clinic remains under construction and development. He also sees patients in the community.

Barrios is helping his church gain a new appreciation for outreach. Instead of relying only on spiritual well-being, he is bringing a model of holistic health to the region. He knows it’s important to reach out to people where they’re at medically and socially as well as spiritually.

Dr. Javier Barrios

Director profile

Despite being one of the newest Luke Society directors, Dr. Javier Barrios is well-versed in his knowledge of the ministry. Prior to his own affiliation with the Luke Society, he had relationships with other ministry directors. He is not afraid to step out and have his voice heard. He brings an integrated approach to community restoration in Jesus’ name. Barrios’ desire is to reach out to the underserved in Nicaragua by combining his gifts with those in the church.
